I know we do not have all the facts regarding the Nokta Impact yet, but I feel comfortable with the fact it will have more features than the Makro Racer (Iron Audio, Auto GB, Notch Discrimination, ability to set how long the back-light will be on when activated, etc). Some of these feature may not be needed by all, but many seem to be very nice enhancements (depending on how they work in the field).
The other issue is the Makro Racer's MSRP is $649 or $849 for the Pro Pack, and it looks like the MSRP for the Nokta Impact may be $699 for the Standard Package. That would mean they are only charging an additional $50 MSRP for the added features of the Nokta Impact. However:
The sale price of the Nokta Impact will be $595 (15% below MSRP), and the Makro Racer Dealers are holding firm at $649 or $849 for the Pro Package.
Who would pay $54 more for a Racer with fewer features that otherwise appears to be the same or very similar.
With the info known to date, I would prefer to wait for the Nokta Impact with additional features and pay less.
I think part of the pricing issue is that the Distributor for the Makro Racer came up with an inflated MSRP and then lists the sale price at the MSRP level, and the Nokta Distributor did not, they listed MSRP at $50 above the real Racer MSRP, and then offer a 15% discount and sell it for $595.
I am excited about the Nokta Impact. I like the color, price, and many of the added features.
This will be interesting to observe.
