Makro Racer beat AT pro head to head on deep silver

I just received a Makro Racer for 30 days to give it a try and report back on my results.

My primary machines are an AT Pro and a CTX 3030.

This afternoon, I had an hour to kill after some short rains passed through. I was itching to get out for a short bit so I took the loaner Makro Racer to "silver hill" as I like to call it. It is an old property that has turned up 5 silvers on a very small hill near me. I've hit it with both the AT Pro and the CTX 3030 in the recent past.

I was specifically chasing high and faint signals in a fairly junky part of this hill. I hit upon a high pitch that was repeatable from different directions. It was indicating it was deep (8 inches or so) and it was not showing any target ID on the screen. It was the pitch that I was going on.

I dug and dug. I finally saw an edge of what appeared to be a silver dime so I stopped for a moment. I went back to my truck to grab my AT Pro to compare signals. They both had their stock coil. (Makro 11x7 and AT Pro 11x8.5)

The video of that is here:

As seen in the video, even with the dime exposed down around 8 or 9 inches, the AT Pro was not giving any signal on it. The AT Pro was in "Pro Zero" mode with no discrimination.

The Makro however was giving the high pitch which drew my attention in the first place.

I was impressed and am looking forward to hitting the hill all over again with this Makro Racer.

Other field tests to follow!

Once you take dirt out of the hole, the dynamics change with some detectors. I remember my CZ was hard pressed to find a coin in a dug hole. Don't know if that's the case with the AT Pro.

Good point John. I agree.

Unfortunately by the time I realized I had something, I was staring at a silver rim. I did the best I could considering the circumstances but your point is well taken.

I will try to enlist my son as assistant so I can test undug signals as much as possible. The problem is (as you know) most of the time it is fruitless but now and then you land a keeper. Usually when the camera isn't rolling...

I LOVE my AT Pro and have no plans on abandoning it at any point soon but this was a bit unsettling when it couldn't sense the coin under those conditions.

Not saying it is the definitive smoking gun but thought it was worth sharing.

I think it's known by a few the Racer is deeper than a AT Pro. Plus your comparison was head to head on same scenario. Folks can read anything into it they wish.

I have a racer, and love it..i have had many wow moments with it ..my recent detectors were the etrac, deus, and f75 ltd2 and i prefer the racer..it's plenty deep and super fast..a great combo

If you have the opportunity definitely try the small 5" coil, it'll amaze you. It's as deep in ground as the stock coil and picks the goods out like nobodies business!

Cal that 5" and heavy trash can't be beat. Enjoy hunting those type sites now with this unit.

Thx for the report newfields
