Makro Racer 2 Problems

New member
Hi guys I've got a Makro Racer 2 which is only a few weeks old and I'm having problems doing automatic ground balance on dry and wet beach sand it will just not balance even though the ground has no targets under coil ?? Anyone else having problems ground balancing there's ??

Mine does it sometimes, but usually lasts 5 minutes max where it refuses to ground balance, then suddenly it works perfect for months on end, then another 5 minute of weirdness....ut it's so very rare it happens, don't really bother me.

Sometimes it won't ground balance if I lift the detector perfectly vertically, if yuh know what i measn, but if i just quickly and rapidly raise the coil only whuile pushing trigger forward, it balances super fast.

Matt

Cheers Matt !! So is this ground balancing in beach mode? And what is your ground balance reading at? Cheers

Beach sand usually has a very low reading and sometimes you need to set it at 20 or lower or start at like 30 and try to ground balance the bobbing way.
Run the detector for a while and see what the ground reading is on the face of the detector. It could be extremely low like 10.
Up here my soil is highly mineralized and most of the detectors I have it's running at high 80's all the time on all of them.

Dry beach sand use two or three tone (I prefer three). On the wet (saltwater) sand then use Beach mode. Beach mode on the dry sand and two or three tone on the wet doesn't work well. On fresh water beaches both wet and dry sand, Beach mode is not needed.

The main problem I'm having is it won't high beep (ground balance) in beach mode or any mode for that matter
Even if I lower the sensitivity and this is on all soils but mainly dry and wet beach sand , I've even done a full
Reset of machine ?? Hmmm I'm totally confused my ground balance reading in top right hand corner of display
Doesn't move of 90 ?? Is there something wrong with my coil ? Or system box ?? Anyone have any ideas ?
Cheers...

This is gonna sound dumb, but are you pushing the toggle forward? Forward is to ground balance, back towards you is for pinpoint. I got confused when I first got mine because I was used to the relic which has two buttons one for GB on for pinpoint.
I was pulling the r2 trigger to pinpoint instead of pushing it to GB it.
I know it sounds dumb to ask but gotta start somewhere
And 90 is the setting it starts up on.

And just for posterity I'll also ask if you're holding the trigger forward until you hear the beeps?

Also turn ground tracking off unless you're hunting in the gen all metal mode.

Beach mode I believe is the only mode that allows the detector to GB below 40. Other modes only allow it to go down to 40.

Hi yes when ground balancing always push trigger forward and hold while pumping until hear beep but just not
Getting beep an the ground phase stays on 90 and also my tracking is off so still confused hmm??

Isat setting low too?
Also disconnect the coil and reconnect.
Any other coils you can try or just the standard pack 7x11?

Yes also isat level is on 3 I think or factory settings as I reset the machine still confused thinking something
Is faulty??

Email her for advice

But Keith southern did a video about turning isat down because off odd mineralization bars being high so just an idea

Excellent thankyou so much for your help as it's an awesome detector and I've had like 12 or more and don't think I wanna part with
This one if I can get this problem sorted it's a keeper

As long as you've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the coil or changing coils if you can, changing batteries, taking off coil cover to ensure no stuff throwing it off....
All stuff she will ask.

Cheers mate ... I've watched heaps of YouTube vids on it but haven't seen the isat one yet hmmm will watch it shortly
I'm still also using the stock standard coil is there a better coil suited to it maybe??

Yes I've tried everything from resetting, coil cover, disconnecting coil and everything maybe have to try
Playing around with isat value it's on factory settings so turn isat up or down hmmm??

Depends on what you're hunting and where.
I have the 5" for trashy areas, 5.5x10 for most use because it separates like a 5 but covers 10", and the stock coil for more wide open hunting.
Just depends on where you're hunting. Works great with any coil.

Shouldn't cause you not to be able to ground balance.
Can you do it manually?

Yes can ground balance manually but it's just too slow always love auto ground balance but yes have only
Standard 11x7 coil want too get the 5x10 coil as a main one too keep on it though but apart from that it's very sensitive
And mainly use 3 tones

Well just shoot dilek an email and see her thoughts.
