Makro CS outstanding!

Well to begin with I was quite the critic on the Makro Racer when it first came out and this was mostly due to just a couple fellows on several forums that talked it up saying how much better the unit was than the E trac, Deus, Etc. And one of these proponents did not even own a racer!
But being the curious guy that I am, I ordered one and put it through its paces. Well it isn't the best thing since sliced bread like I was told but it is a good solid unit with some great features.
One of my concerns was buying a unit from overseas and how any issues would be resolved if they came up. I would not have to wait long to find out. Within a month one of my coil ears broke. I had heard about this issue so I was more or less expecting this. A quick email to Dilek and I was put in contact with the right people and had my replacement coil in my hands within 5 days, and this was after shipping from Turkey! a short time later my coil bolt broke and another quick call and I had 2 new coil bolts in my hand within days.
I know anything that is made by humans have a chance to go bad but it is what the company does to correct this that matters to me and in my book \Makro CS is tops!
Now if they can make a Racer that does not read foil up in the gold range I would be one happy camper LOL!

The Racer is only the beginning IMO of what's to come from these folks.

Their next release may indeed roll more heads than the Racer did----that's saying something.

They are on to something both from a performance and personal service aspect.

Glad to see them marketing their merchandise here in the USA.

Can't wait to see what other gaps Makro is willing to fill for us. I'm gonna be patient and give them their space and not push the issue as we have seen the results here in the states where we want something NOW companies are pushed into delivering sub par products.... I can wait and have fun with the Racer in the mean time.

Good post choppadude. Glad to see consistently positive remarks about their customer service. I'm with you on the foil reading high, even into the coin range. I'm regularly experiencing that plus tabs reading well into the 80's (all skewed ID's occur while target is in ground only), the occasional rusty wire or nail reading high coin and the audio quality is not always ragged in the rise and fall - front & back of the signal peak. Overall it is a fun detector with some compelling abilities. I'll be posting up my complete impressions soon enough.

Glad to see I am not the only one with these issues Bruce. I look forward to hearing more from you on the racer.

To me, these target ID issues are "high gain detector 101" ---which is not to say that it doesn't take a bit of practice to begin to recognise what's what. It's kind of like asking where Popeye gets his strength. Answer: a 14khz high gain detector will bring up the ground's signal though the responses it likes best--low conductor ones--but that's part of its strength. Had mine out in wet ground today and learned that its not so much were a target "hops up" to but also how low it drops that will give you a better indication of what the object is. These are the same kinds of issues that I faced with my first CZ5 and Sov. --100% solvable with practice and time. Simple fact: when you run a high gain detector, its necessary to use a range of methods to ID your responses--its about SETS of target characteristics. When you try and rely on the meter alone your accuracy suffers. Also, these responses are the machine responding to not the foil itself but the interaction between target and ground. When you go to the cross sweep there's nothing (or much less) there. Hope this helps.
