making my own digging tools

Today i went to the family pathways thrift store to find some old butter knifes and modify them into digging tools i picked the ones that where longer and strong , that is blades did not bend much when applying preasure i got 4 of them for 26 cents so plenty of room to modify and experiment my first experiment was to put a bend in the blade at 2" just a bit so i could pry out the target on the others i kept it strait and notched the back side for pulling up the target and on another i put pings in it like you would see on a golf ball and that gave it a slight bend and on another i sharpend the blade and notched it and kept it strait that one really works fine at cuting the slit in tuff grass and can pry nice but i will have to take them out for a hunt and try them out i used my 12" tongs for hunting the baseball feild the other night and i took the greatest enjoyment in just cleaning up the trash and using it to dig in the dirt the tongs is what works great in the wood chips or sand or just dirt it makes bending over so much easear -- better but in the grass tongs are out thats whear the butter knifes will do best dubling as a probe and slitter and digger -- BACK TO THE MINE

Sounds like you have it down to a Science............ Post some picks of your stuff if you can.
Good detecting items do not have to cost a small fortune.
