Making endcaps...

I found some 2" acrylic rod to turn for a diy endcap but I found this 1.25" pvc plug that has possibilities too. What do you think?
I tried to buy 2" lathe drill chuck at Harbor Freight but it looks like they quit selling them. Not sure if it itself is 2" diameter or that's what it can handle. Other such chucks have a tapered shaft that might not play nice on my drill press. Seems like a good accessory to have but now where to get one?
I have seen the YouTube videos using bolts etc to do small things (in wood). Might try that along with a Dremel.

Which endcap do you need? A single, double, something special?

I have a pair, the one shown and one that was for the headphone with external plastic thread for the stress relief (that doesn't fit very well).
I think both have cracks. I'd like to try the embedded connector approach but I worry there is too much stress on the connector that way - I may do inline instead. I just am not very impressed with these Amphenol M12's from Mouser. Seem more Chinese knockoff quality than what I've seen from Amphenol in the past.
I'll try the acrylic just to see how hard it is. No rush as I have my CTX as my main machine.

I've made and used the countersunk M12's for almost 4 years now with heavy use in saltwater and never a issue. (A guess would be close to 600 hours a year submerged in saltwater) Now the Amphenol do require regular cleaning and silicon / greasing. There are SS M12's also from Mouser also if your not happy with the Amphenol. I will say I have had guys send back a machine because they put the headphones on and never removed to maintain and they came off but it required some work. Just like your lower shaft, if you never pull it off and clean it will freeze up also.

I imagine Joe has some endcaps available but if not I have two singles and four new (Joe's) double endcaps if you need. The two singles are stock, used factory originals I took off to do the remote pinpoint mod. One is missing the strain relief. I don't know what I did with it. Might be able to find it though. I would throw in a single with a double if it would help you. The doubles are $28 shipped. I'll never put either of mine back to stock so the singles will just sit.

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind if I mess mine up. I haven't gotten to them yet - I am trying to refurbish the coils, including one for the CTX.

Normal endcaps are simple; the Power Pod endcaps took me a bit of time...

I now mould as and when required - just need to save the pins etc from the cracked / fractured originals...
