Make the leap...or wait - opinions wanted

After seeing the difficulties so many people encountered with the first generation of the Garrett AT Pro, I have to wonder whether I should take the plunge now with the CTX or wait to see if there is a second generation CTX which might be better. I have few complaints with the Etrac and am making some fun finds with it, but the CTX sure is tempting me, although our opportunities to water hunt here in the desert southwest are certainly limited.

I would love to hear your opinions.

The problems are minor in nature. If your going to treat the machine as just another tool in your quest for_________ then yes make the leap.

If you have a E-Trac you have a GREAT machine already. If the new features are worth it to you......

I can tell you combined audio and ferrous coin really wakes the CTX up! Holler if you have questions! Bart

Take the leap you will love this machine. First time I took it to the beach produced a stainless steel ring and a small gold ring. I found both in less than 30 min in dry sand.

I had the same concerns but have seen the small problems and thought that with the CTX being able to fix problems as they come up with out shipping the unit back to ML makes the software glitches just a small nusiance IMHO,,,, as far as the corrosion on the screws they have already told us that is is just in the black covering used on the SS screws. I just wanted to be one of the first in the area to hunt some pounded sites to see what I could find,,,, my Etrac did me well and can see the 3030 being as good and should be better than the E,,,, now or later they will get it right,,,, I'm not sweating it,,

A nice analogy for an E-Trac user to say, but those of us who are using the CTX knows better...........

Had the E Trac, it was great, used it for about 3 years (give or take), started with the X Terra 70/705, it was great too, still have it. The 3030 is more fun to use for me, the balance, speed and wireless headphones alone made it worth it, and with ferrous /coin setup and target trace, it no longer became a question for me. Best of luck with what you decide. HH
