Major Company jumping in with Water Proof Machine too

To Great Companies butting heads. Will the White's MX Sport Metal detector be in competion with Garretts AT Pro? Will it be mid range or the upper end?

I'm excited to see what White's has in the MX Sport. I've been a White's fan for many years but use the AT Pro now as my tot lot machine because, while the DFX is just as sensitive to that odd small gold, it just isn't as deep as the AT Pro. I liked the MXT because it was as sensitive as the DFX but deeper. I just didn't care for the knob thing in this age of technology. Personally, I think knobs are saying I'm cheaply made. Doesn't make it a bad machine, just not what I expect out of a top machine today. I do see the MX Sport is still a bit heavier than the AT Pro.

The MXSport has twice the features as the AT Pro. Its really a souped up MXT in my opinion. Should be a game changer. Dealers are taking orders for them already. Priced at 750.

Its always good to see some form of competition and the more the better it is for the detectorist, the AT Pro is a proven machine in what it does as in reliable and proven that it is waterproof and this can mainly only come over a long time duration. The Whites new offering while is based on the ultra reliable MXT platform,it is not proven on that specific model as being long term reliable waterproof.

I will agree that Whites have produced long term waterproof machines and very successful as well but any new model that comes to the market just maybe have a design fault,of course they would have thoroughly tested it,but faults can develop as we are all aware after the launch, this is why i have always given any new product/item a minimum of 12 months to see if any design fault do start developing.I of course that is not the case and it probably wont but thats just one of my buying criterias on any product and it has served me well over the decades.

We will wait and see from the initial feedback over time,in 12 months time i may be interested in this machine, mainly for freshwater river detecting for roman votive offerings, and this detector does tick all the right boxes with the exception of the reliability and that information wont tick my box for another 12 months.

Good to see Whites back in the game! I will always have a soft spot for Whites detectors as found my First Silver coin with a XLT. I could always use at least one Submersible detector may just have to pick one up Myself.

I couldn't agree anymore with Mega on his statement.Always give ANY detector a certain amount of time to work out the kinks……..if any.As far as detectors with knobs, they are more reliable IMO than the digitals with touch pads.Fewer breakdowns.Take the analog CZ's for example, built like tanks and very reliable with accurate I.D.They will match most detectors today for depth and in some cases surpass them! Once again my opinion,I'm an old school detectorist.
