Maiden voyage lasted about 2 hours and was better than I expected.

I went to a small park that has not give up but 2 indians and one wheat in the last 6 hours or so of hunt time. The first 30 minutes I was thinking ,What did I get myself into this time? But then I Put her in trash mode and went to the trashy corner of the park and got a good penny hit at 5" and dug a plug of mud as it has rained a lot the last 2 days.Stuck my uniprobe in the hole and beep and pulled out a nice old rusty nail and thought great but stuck the probe in the hole again and another beep and out pops a 1919 penny.

Hunted in the trash a little while more and another penny signal and at 4" the same thing all over except it was a 1952.A little latter I got a loud blast that said 50c and was 2" on guage and I thought no way just a big piece of scrap but it locked on solid and sounded good so I run the pinpointer over it and then pryed out the 1972 half.I am sure several people had passed on it in the past as shallow trash and I am probably one of them.

I then put it in preset coin mode and went to the better part of the park and soon got a solid 80 dime hit at 6" and sounded good so I poped out a nice plug and the probe said in the hole still and out comes a nice big rusty bolt and I thougyt great iron false but stuck the ptobe in the hole and about 2" over from the bolt out pops the Merc and I am starting to like this machine more.I wandered around for a while and tinkered with the endless possibe settings and then got a nickel hit at 6" and poped out the 1901 V nickel.

A few minutes later I got a solid penny signal that said 7" and pulled the nasty 1913 penny out at around 7" and did not find any iron this time.It was getting lat by now so I went over by the swings an started hunting clad for practice and pulled several dimes and pennies and one quarter and left a bunch of zinks as they are a breeze to ID.After a few min. of clad hunting I packed it up and headed in.I did not set the world on fire but was impressed so far given the site I was at.

One thing I also noticed is after about 30 min. my lower back started to hurt and I remembered someone had posted that there back was sore after using the Vision for a while so I started thinking about what I was doing different from my other machines and it hit me.I was reaching out further in front to swing and my elbow was out away from my side qhite aways.I then brought the machine back and tucked my elbow in close to my side and the pain eased up.The machine is ballanced well and not very heavy but is wider at the back than what i am use to and I just had to adjust to it and now I think it will be fine.

I was asked to see if I could hit a quarter in the air at 12" and by cranking it up some I was able to get a good ID and repeatable signal at a full 12" with the quarter on clean ground.I took a empty plastic one gallon jug that measured exactly 12" tall and set on the quarter and got the mentioned results without nocking the jug over.I did not crank everything to the max either as I just got the thing and am not even close to learning how to get the max out of it.

One thing I noticed right off is it is a breeze to pinpoint with and would be a serious clad hunters dream come true .

The volume on the wireless phone was not an issue as I have ran loud chainsaws for years and shot way to many rounds without ear plugs.

Well it is getting late as my day started at 5 am ,Later Ray.

Nice finds! I got my Vision today too, but my first voyage was just plain confusing. I have a ton to learn. Clearly I need some coaching.

That was me :) I noticed the same thing you did, that the battery box is wider that normal and makes me wanna push my arm out further so the box clears my body. I tried tucking it in more on the last hunt and that did help some. On my E-Trac, I do a big wide sweep from left to right... almost side stepping a little... and when combining that with keeping the battery box away from me, it just wrenches my back. So I've tucked it in and shortened my sweeps. Hopefully this will do the trick.

Congrats on your finds!
