Magnetic wand for cleaning out Iron

This is the tool that i use to clean out the iron nails are hard to see but when i stick this in the hole they jump onto it and when i dig down and find an old can and it crumbles up this magnet works so great to get every scrap of iron out it is made from a rake handle and a pill bottle and has 2 one inch rare earth neodemium magnets inside its pull is very strong i then tape the cap so it will not turn ,, this works great in tot lots sand lots somtimes i find B<BS and i just stick it in the sand and bam thear found saves time not using a pinponter and can be used as a self defence tool

The magnet is a good idea. I have some small ones, will see if I can rig some up on the handle of my digging tool. Jabbo

Those rare earth magnets are strong. I started using them on the ends of my picks when gold prospecting. I got the round ones and would set em in a pre-drilled hole in the end of the handles. Then I starting buying the picks with them already attached. Epoxy them in place. Heck, I have a handful stuck under the motorcycles to help trigger some signal lights, now I probably should go check and see if they nabbed treasure and/or junk from the road - after seeing your pic's:unsure:

You're on the right track.

Now, put a loose magnet in a plastic (pvc) tube, seal the tube at both ends.

Stick it it down into the ground. When it comes up with pieces of iron junk on the end, flip it over. The magnet slides to the other end and the pieces of iron fall off the plastic tube.

Saves labor and makes it easier to rid the magnet of tiny pieces of iron. Great for magnetic black sand too.
