Madness with The Ace 350

I started off early this morning around 7:30 . Started swinging the
detector as soon as I got off the tar. It was no more than 30 ft from
the back of the truck to the grass. That area was slightly trashy
and driving me crazy with signals. I moved to spot not to far from
this and it was a little better. Ok here is the weird thing, I got hooked
up on another trashy area the metal detector was going sick, so I lifted it
up to get it to stop but it didn't. All I could think of is Garrett has great service
but, it will probablly end my season. I took the coil cover off cleaned it turned
it back on still nothing. The machine was still going crazy so I opted to change
the coil to a smaller double d. Ok that seems to have solved the problem with
the uncontrollable beeping. I metal detected for a while and returned to the area
that set the machine off on a tangent. This paticular spot did the same exact thing
to the detector again. I'm thankful that the 9x11 dd is not falty I'm thankful that the
detector isn't broken. You just have to wonder whats in the ground that would set
off the detector way it did hmmmmmm:nopity:.

It's possible it wasn't the ground, but maybe RF interference or an electrical run
close by, or in the ground.
I've heard of a few cases of them going crazy no matter where you go. I had my 250
do that once. I changed the batteries and all was fine again.. You can also try a reset
if the problem keeps up. But I don't think mine has done it again since that first time.
Must have been a disturbance in the force.. :starwars:

Andrew, do you like the sniper coil much better than the double d?
Can you pinpoint proficiently and pop a coin with a screwdriver?:poke:

sniper coil is excellent on the 350, pinpoint is absolutely spot on, you will lose a fair bit of depth though......

Yesterday my 250 was driving me crazy. It was every swing.. beep..beep beep beep BEEP!! I just wanted it to shut the hell up!! :) I just got it and am still trying to figure it out.

SCOTLAD, what are we talking, a six inch max or so on digs!
To tell you the truth the double d's takes a lot of getting used to
when you've been accustomed to a round coil. When
you target with a round coil at least you know after pinpointing
you are right over the top. I believe I might even be able to pop
a coin with a screwdriver with a round coil, especially a sniper
coil. I've read quite a bit about the sniper coil suppose to be great
in trashy areas. Thanks for the info and may your next hunt be
your best hunt.

Yeah, right you know there isn't that much metal in the ground and there has to be some
kind of outside interference. Like John said; there could be one battery in backwards or
sometimes there is a buried electrical line in the area. I can't believe the machine will even run
with a battery in backwards. No other device that I know of runs with a battery in backwards.
