Is there a trick to getting my F75 upper and middle rods to fit together? They seem to be the same diameter and will NOT slide together even with the locking collar loose? Also, I traded for the detector and did not get a receipt from my dealer.Do I need a receipt for the warranty?
Thanks-

-Tom

is that you need a receipt as proof of purchase for the warranty. If I'm wrong, somebody correct me. On the rods, mine were really tight, but fit well once I got it started... I liked the tight fit as it prevented "wobble"... however, they definitely should not be the same diameter... also, reach inside the lock collar and feel the friction part as you turn the collar. Make sure it's moving and not stuck....

I used a little 3 in 1 oil on the rod but was about to give up and use emery cloth to grind the upper rod down a little, and suddenly it snapped together when I pushed harder on the spring loaded ball. So, one issue down. I wrote a letter to the detector dealer asking for a receipt as well.
Thanks-

Tom

I've heard this same complaint from a lot of 75 buyers. They WILL fit, you just have to get it just right. Like Mark said, make sure the cam locks are loose, and then put your finger inside and make sure everything is centered and out of the way. They are a tight fit, but will go together! They should have chamfered the entry hole just a tad to make em easier to start, but the plus side is, they fit very well and dont wobble once you get it in. I'd ask for a reciept from your dealer too, but I just sent mine back in a week or so ago, and a reciept was never requested from them, so it shouldnt be an isue. Seeing as the machine is so new, the time facter on the warranty shouldnt be an issue for some time. :)
come to think of it, I dont remember even seeing a warranty card with my 75, but its possible there was one and it got lost in the shuffle. In any event, since mine has already been sent back in , I'm on record there as the origonal owner. Streak!

I had the same problem as these other guys are telling you. It took me 15 minutes to figure out that the collar inside had to be centered, because if any of it is exposed, it blocks the rod from going it. I almost called fisher about it, but then got it.

They are also right, once its in and locked, it doesn't wobble at all.

& even squeek on every swing so this was purposely done (I won't say what brand);)Once you get the hang of it you'll be fine, & it's always tightest when brand new.....

I had the problem too, found out the lip of the rod was hitting on the metal locking device inside the upper tube. Tilting the rod a little made it slip right in.

I am constantly changing from the 11" coil to the small 6" coil..it fits good and tight thanks goodness..as for the warranty card
its on the back of the owners manual and a reciept is a good idea to prove proof of purchase..
