Made myself a 21st century straight shaft for the tiger

I broke the lower rof of my S shaped shaft for the tiger shark. I decided to make a straight one like i use on the excal. I could have baght a new rod or a factory made shaft but i'm stubburn and wanted to make one myself. I looked around for the perfect tubing and ran into a carbon fiber leaf rake at the hardware store. I went back there with a piece of rod and dismatled the rake in the store's alley to see that it would fit. It fits perfectly so i paid the 37 bucks for it and also baught some bike handles.
Once home it only took me an hour to create my new straight shaft ( didn't had to cut it) and i couldn't wait to try it on! So this morning... after some repairs on the tiger (defective battery pack) I headded to the beach.

Well i did a pretty good job. The shaft is well balaced and really helps limit wrist fatigue since the weight of the control box in on the shoulder.... here is what it looks like... here are today's results... 1 10K gold band weight 8.5 grams, 5 silver and 40 bucks in clad... that was my 68Th gold for this season and you can see my clad count so far. No record beaten yet for me thaugh... but i'm working on it ! finally, a pic of some of my rings this season

Awsome collection, do you dive and wade? Thanks for sharing info on straight shaft, I have an excal too.

Martin,

You're doing great! Good job on the shaft and the gold. Do you prefer the Tiger Shark or the Excal for getting the rings?

In soft water and modern beach i prefer the tiger and dig every signals. Our Canadian clad is made of steel nowadays and the excal has a hard time with those. On ancient beaches filled with trash, the excalibur is king. On salt water, i only bring the excal. Both are perfect tools, you just need to use the right one on the right conditions :)
