Yesterday, we had a beach party at my brother's summer house. He was celebrating retirement. Had loads of fun, but only got a penny from his private beach. On the way back home last night, i promised myself to make a shorth hunt this morning.
When I woke up, being the man of the house, i said to her : "Okay i decided to go hunting this morning and the is absolutely nothing you can say to make me change my mind. Is that understood! I'm the man here !"
Since she was still asleep and i kind of wispered more than said those things, she didn't replyed. She woked as i was leaving and i promised i'd be back at noon.
I left at 08h00, that left me with 4 hours including transportation and coffee at the corner store. That ment, a local swimming hole i already pouded several times this year alone. I went there anyway because i met a guy last time who told me a guy was tossed in the water by his friends and lost a big gold chain. That time i searched a lot with no luck. The guy didn't knew the fellow's name, and i figured it's just an other lunatic that often bothers us with false informations.
The minute i arrived on site, cold rain started to fall. I was a bit cold and windy to make it worse. Signals were ver scarce. I only had a twonie and some pennies and was walking towards my car in the water when i hit a signal. Didn't got it on the first scoop. Felt odd i was sure i was right on target. Well once i saw that big chain in my second scoop i knew all the misery was worth it! A nice and solid 14 grams chain and pendant! Cool!
I also got a silver ring but that was it for that spot. I knew a second swim hole close by and i still had an hour of detecting time to myself. So i hit the second lake under very heavy rain. Once again i found a twonie as my first signal, then a loony... hey not bad! Things got a little quieter after that. But i got a second silver ring and a third one i taught it was junk. Once repolished i noticed it was silver and gold filled, but mostly silver, so i counted it as a silver find. I went deeper, up to my neck and had problems digging a good signal. Once i raised my scoop, saw a penny in the sand... was about to throw the rest of the sand and i noticed a gold glimpse in the mud... shaked a little more and out popped that nice gold ring with a rubis. Also 10K but a good 2.5 grams... hey not a bad day at all! Ended the day with a little more than 10 bucks (all dirthy coins).
Was real glad on the way back home and didn't minded the rain at all. Arrived at home and my wife had just filled the bath tub for my son. Too bad buddy, you'll get the next one ! Boy is that hobby fun or what. What else can you do on a cold and rainy day like this! Dont answer... there are kids watching here !
