Made it out for a bit!

Made it out a bit yesterday and only found a few coins. The most productive thing I did was drive by the site of an old school that sits on about 4 acres. I saw a fella there and asked permission to hunt the grounds. He was from Nebraska and his daughter in law from Omaha owned the grounds and building. After some chit-chat he gave me her phone number and I secured permission to hunt. The school isn't that old but it is the site of the old school that was built in the 1880s. From there I drove across town to hunt an old abandoned house. The guy that maintains the property is a friend of mine and gave me permission to hunt. He also told me that the fire department is going to burn the house for training. I fired up the SE and had to lower the sensitivity to around 24 manual. I managed to find 3 memorial cents,a 1926 wheatie,a well worn 1917 merc dime and a 10 k plated ring. That was just in part of the front yard and it is a huge lot! May go back today if the rains hold off!

Great going Ted I like those older Mercs I also found a 1917 worn one last year and a 1916 this year - no unfortunately it did not have a mint mark on it. But it was cool to find just the same!

I made it back out today for about 2 hours. All the old house had for me today was two wheaties. So I went to the school. This place has been hit pretty hard. I have gotten many coins here in the last 35 or so years including a couple of Barber quarters. Todays finds were a 1944 nickle,a well worn mercury dime and 6 more wheaties. I knew the ground was fairly clean so I ran with deep on. Not a bad afternoon for an old guy. I'm going to try to go out for one last time tomorrow afternoon as it could be the last good day for the season. Good luck everyone and thanks to everyone for the well wishes and tips! I have an appointment Nov.2nd to see how they are going to treat this basilar aneurysm .

Thanks! I didn't make it out yesterday and now it is 32* and light snow! Can't wait till next year!!

Thanks everyone! Tony...I probably wont get back to the house. No big deal. I have many places to go. My checkup at the hospital showed everything is stable. The doc said just don't get the blood pressure up! Good luck everyone!:detecting:
