I finally made it back from Moldova last night. It took about 21 hrs start to finish. We were able to take Christmas gifts to 468 orphans in the first orphanage we visited in the village of Leova. The next day we went to Crihana Veche down south on the Romanian border. We took gifts to 160 orphans there. We also went to a village called Blendesti (Blendesh) and did gifts for about 140 kids and food for 150 families. There is a boy in the 4th grade in Blendesti who is blind. His vision can be restored with surgey, but they have no money and it would have to be done in Germany, England or the U.S. That is the next challenge. I will be speaking with a friend who is an eye doctor today to see if we can go back and let him examine the boy. If he can be treated, then we will decide when, where and how. I hope to be making a whirlwind trip back over there soon to see if we can help this boy. I could ramble on about all I saw in these orphanages and villages, but until you look into their eyes and see hear and SMELL every thing around you, you just couldn't possibly understand it fully. I can honestly say I can never look at a dollar bill or a plate of food the same way again.
On a lighter note...The Mayor of Blendesti said we are welcome any time. The village started in 1540. How about a GBRS....Grand Blendesti Relic Shootout ?
