Made In Ireland?

What makes these better? Were else did Minelab produce detectors?

Minelab is now producing them in Malaysia, I believe. Nothing necessarily makes them "better," if they were made in Ireland instead of Malaysia, but some folks have been concerned that the moving of Minelab's production unit to Malaysia (for cheaper labor, I'm sure), will mean a drop in quality. I personally have heard NO testimony to suggest that there HAS been a drop in quality, but some have feared that, and thus some folks -- when selling, will specify "made in Ireland" on their machine.

That's my understanding/take on it...

Im sure it will have more to do with componet combinations than labor.
