Made arrangements for the U-Haul truck for Friday and got us a storage unit...

so I could start moving in boxes of things to get them out of this house. Pulled out of the driverway at U-Haul and heard a nasty grinding noise coming out of the front. Man, this vehicle has been such a pain with all the repairs we have had to get and here is another. Well I thought it was a brake so took it back to the garage we have been taking it to. On the way there it sounded worse. First it was when making a right turn, then going straight and applying the brake. Finally got to the garage ok and went inside.

These guys are great people and bend over backwards to help. They had reduced our costs and even made a repair we didn't have to pay for. That repair was the front axle. OUCH.

Anyway, told the owner I thought it might be the front brake grinding (though we had that fixed too less than a year ago). The mechanic jumped into the van and was going to take it for a test drive to see what he thought it might be. He didn't get far. As he pulled out of the driveway onto the street the front axle snapped. The van was immovable.

I called for the police to come as it was interferring with traffic flow and didn't want any head on accidents while cars went into the other lane to get around the van. Police officer arrived and was directing traffic. A short time later the wrecker arrived. Both the police officer and I were afraid for the safety of the wrecker driver as the van slide off the jack once. I prayed for his safety.

The van is in the garage now. No one hurt. The garage has ordered the part from the same place they got the last one - I am guessing since it has been less than a month since the last axle was put in that they will try to do it as warranty work and be reimbursed at least for the parts.

God was there once again for us. That axle could has snapped any time and any place. We had been travelling a lot lately going up north for looking for the house up there and going back up recently plus hauling things from Casey's Dad's house using the trailer on the highway. Had it snapped on the highway we expect we might have become a traffic fatality especially if we were hauling the trailer during the move. God is so amazing. As I mentioned before when we took the van in before for motor mounts to be replaced they had to replace this axle as it snapped coming out of the garage. They did the work and charged us nothing - not even labor. They didn't give a quote for this repair work. I'm thinking it may be nothing but this van sure has caost the owner of the garage too much money. Paying for wreckers to haul it back on the property and into the garage isn't cheap. The parts and labor for the free to me axle change before.

I have a lot of respect for these guys. I need a muffler for the van but now I am afraid to even ask them to do the work. Sure hate to have them work on this thing any more than they already have - even if they would make more money from the muffler repair maybe I should take the torment elsewhere.

Anyway, thank you Father God for once again keeping my family and I safe, for keeping the wrecker driver safe, for keeping other motorists safe as they worked their way around the van, police car and wrecker and for keeping the police officer safe too. Thank you God for holding it together until I got to the garage. Thank you Jesus.

I just wanted to share this with you. God is great all the time and He does great things!

No charge for the work or parts. This left me with money to replace the muffler - now the van is quiet again.

Also we got a call from the realtor - the closing will be Wednesday at 3 PM on this house instead of Friday. That will give us more time (and money) for our move of things to the storage building. Now we need to know when the closing up north will be. Once it is done we can start moving things into the new home.

Hoping for some help from some of the younger guys with strong backs from the church to help us as we will have the beds, caninets and the piano to move on Saturday (or Friday night).

God is great all the time and He does great things.
