Made a longer handle for my Lesche tool

Handle is now 3.5" longer, should be easier when digging deeper. Gonna remove the red hand grip and buy two bicycle handle bar grips. Made it from scrap steel tubing and aluminum tubing I had laying around. They fit inside each other. Can't drill the original steel handle, hardened steel, so I glued everything together and pounded in 2 sheet metal wedges. The extra large notch near the blade tip hooks onto small tree roots, just pull up hard and they break. Cut the ears off too, they did nothing but get in the way. Sooner or later I'll get this tool perfected.

Those ears on the original design were there to protect your hand from slipping down and lacerating it. Can be annoying to have your hand slip and cutting it deep.. But your extension idea looks good.

I have used the ears to put my foot on and force the tool into the ground. Now that you have the longer handle, that might have been an option for you.

What's the "ID" on the piece u added and what glue did u use? Looks like it on there about a inch or so. Good idea.

I used whatever I had laying around in my cellar. Aluminum tubing is same OD as Lesche handle. Smaller diameter steel tubing is inside, total handle lenght. And inside the steel tubing is a 1/2" wooden dowel full length. Glue was Liquid Nails, not much needed since everything fit inside the other with minimum clearance. Been using it a month now, reaches down deep, good leverage too.
