Made a floating sifter over the weekend...

I have a few spots that have lots of gravel and/or shells mixed in with the sand. I finally got around to modifying a sifter I found in my shed when I bought this house, and turned it into a floating sifter. It's kind of hard to see in the pic, but on the right-hand side, I have two eye screws that I'll use for attachment points for a cord between me and the sifter. I put two on, as I can use the cord as a shoulder strap when I'm going to-and-from my vehicle and water. I got that idea from Butch Mayes' sifter idea. When I'm in the water, the cord will be attached to a utility strap I use for my hipmount clip on my CZ-20. That strap has a quick-release buckle on it, so I'm not worried if I have to ditch.

Later today, hopefully, I'm going to head out to a nearby beach and give it a test run.

Mate Your Sifter is a beauty!!

The box is 16x16,use white pine,I buy the 4" swimming noddle and cut it in half, attach with tie wraps, the wood will last about 4 years.I use 1/4 inch mesh hardware cloth to catch the small goodies.
