Made a 6'' Coil Cover

I took a 2 liter Coke bottle, cut the ends off and split it down the middle.Laid my 6'' coil and Sharpied around it and cut it to fit along the edges. Then tightly wrapped black tape around it to hold it on.
I dont know how long it'll take to wear the tape off enough so it needs replaced, but for now it keeps the coil from getting too scratched up,especially the bottom.

Thats a good idea. Didn't you coil come with a cover? HH Dennis in Idaho

The stock coil did,but I dont think the 6'' does,or any of the DD's.I guess the other 9'' concentric coils do or use the same size.

Thats curious. My 6" came with a coil cover. I guess it all depends on who you buy it from huh. HH Dennis

Hmmm?? It was my understanding that the 6" didn't have a cover, nor could one be purchased. The bottom half of mine looks like a cover but is actually glued on. Is there a cover that can be purchased now, or ???

Minelab stated on this forum that the coil cover is already glued on to the coil but if you want to beef it up a bit more just add a few winds of electrical tape around the edge of the coil and a 5.75 Tesoro coil cover will work nicely ( I went around 3 times and it fit tight ).

As you can see from the picture, the skid-plate of my own 6" is fused in place with resin or something.

Anyone tried just adding tape to it? A few layers of that black duct tape should be easy to clean off later and reapply again as needed.
Has to be a better solution than nothing at all. I also suspect that one small aspect of the reason this coil us super sensitive
is that there's no gaps between the coil and the targets. No air and less signal confusion.

The 6" DD HF was designed for submersion and although people say it's rugget, it sure feels thin on the bottom when you
tap it with your fingers.

There's no available replacement for this cover via Minelab so the suggestions here are interesting.

This is quite a sensitive coil and more than a few Prospectors have said to me that it's a far better coil than the Elliptical.
Anyone want to agree or disagree with that thought?
