Macro Photography: Any suggestions on how to make the bug stay still so that...........

you can take a picture of it? Someone told me to put the bug in a mason jar, then place the jar in the refrigerator for thirty minutes or so. I tried that method, but when I dumped the bug onto the table, it ran across the table towards my wife who quickly bailed out of her chair. It proceeded to run down the table leg, then across the kitchen floor to the cabinet under the sink. I had to unload everything out of the cabinet in order find and re-catch the bug. Debbie was angry at me and under no circumstances was a bug to ever be brought into the house again.

Surely, there has to be a way to make the bug stay still long enough for you to take a picture of it. Kelley (Texas) :)
