Im in the market for a new camera. What brand and model camera do you use to take close-up photos of your finds? Could you post an example of a close-up shot with your camera. Thank You

I'm not a real pro, and use nothing fancy for a camera, BUT I want good, quality pictures , and zoom as far as possible. I have been using Sony Cybershots for the last ten years or so. My current one has 20 X Zoom, 18.2 mega pixels. Model # DSC-HX20V.
If you want to spend more money, get an DSLR Sony Acer 300, where you can change lens, like a 35 mm camera.
I always carry a camera, so I like the size and weight of the Cybershots. Fits in your pocket just fine.
If you are in cold weather the Lithium batteries are not bothered. Anytime I had a camera that used double A's, in cold weather you get one or two shots!

I am sure Fred can help you out here.
If you purchase a Camera at Best Buy, and don't like it, return it within 30 days, and get your money back.

Remember, all the photos you are viewing have been edited, as in lowering the pixels, otherwise I couldn't post them.

I am posting a link for your use in determining just what type of camera you need. I would suggest that you purchase one of the major brands: Sony, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, and etc. If you just want to take pictures of things found with your metal detector with an additional picture or two of the site hunted, you can probably get by with purchasing a point and shoot camera. I would suggest that you purchase one with at least 8 megapixls, and one that has a macro mode. Most will have a built-in flash which is handy to have.

Probably the best place to purchase the point & shoot digital camera would be: Target, Wal-mart, Best Buy, Sam's, or Costco. It is important to check prices. Not having camera knowledge, I suggest that you stay away from eBay or Craig's List or go with someone knowledgeable about cameras. I would recommend that you purchase a new camera, not a used one because it will have a warranty if something goes wrong.

Good luck and let me know what you buy. Kelley (Texas) :)

Fire Fighter, I use a FujiFilm HS20EXR it goes from 24mm wide to 720mm zoom all in one lens. 30X zoom I think it is 16Mp's. It is known as a High zoom -bridge camera..non-slr. here are some macro's done with this camera, and yes I mostly use a tripod when shooting macro......nge
