M6..

I have been thinking about getting a 10 X 14 coil for my MXT and M 6. But I have concerns on how well it would do on coin/ring size targets. Obviously, from what you said in your post, it works pretty good. What things about that coil do you like and how is the pin pointing on it? By the way, congrats on your great finds! Mike

No problem with coin/ring size objects. I use the swing-thing to take the weight on my arm. I'm beginning to appreciate the amt of coverage you can get from the deep scan coil. I found the merc @ a local high school fair amt of trash. Zero in on the high tone. Advantage of the M6. The ring was on a soccer field with a VDI of 28, I took one step passed it turn around and dug it up. I knew there was chance of finding jewerly at this site. Pin pointing is not bad with a little practice, center the target slide back til sound disappears target in front of coil. Or sometimes I will center at sweetspot near the top of the coil, red round logo. Great coil for relic, quarters etc. HH

Here's how well it works, It is my primary coil at the desert and beach...I found some small bits of shell casings and fingernail sized pieces of wire...I find pop can tabs at 10plus inches in the sand at the beach ...

I recently purchased a minelab Excalibur1000 for underwater detecting and that unit is supposed to be great for dry sand..However,I find the MXT is better in the dry sand area with the 1400 deep scan coil....so now I use 2 detectors at the beach...
Pinpointing is excellent when you learn how...(at the top of the coil...)
The 1400 coil is so sensitive that you will probably need a pinpointer probe to assist you in finding those tiny metallic fragments...
In summary ,,,I love it,,,
