My hunting buddy has one and does well.

To start out set it on the coin presets and simply dig any repeatable beeps. Keep it in single tone mode with tracking on. That's it.

The M6 is IMHO the best metal detector for the money made today. That being said, I try to run as little desc as possible. I would love to run 0 desc but most areas are just too trashy. Run the sensitivity as high as you can and keep it running smooth. Be sure to ground balance over clean ground, then run with the auto trac in the middle position. I run the 7 tone ID and listen more than I look at the screen. Learn your VDI numbers to give you an idea what's really there. Example: VDI 18 solid , screen says nickle , It will be a nickle. VDI 21 screen says nickle, it. will be a pull tab. VDI 86 solid says it a quarter it's gonna be a quarter. VDI 91 says quarter probably gonna be a bottle cap. These are only examples and the VDI is really only accurat down to about 4 inches. Deeper targets that hit hard DIGGEM ALL. Get use to the M6 and see if you are really gonna like tecting. It won't take long, cause if the bug bits you'll be addicted in no time. The second coil can come a little later. Hope this helps

turn it on!...just kidding!..try to run it with just iron disc out,and 7 tones on!..DON'T use auto trak!..gb the detector and LOCK that setting with the toggle!..doing this will eliminate any possibility of the detector "tracking" in to a target, and masking that target!..if you "lock" the gb,you can ALWAYS gb again from time to time while you are hunting the site to make sure you are properly gb!..dig ALL medium to high tones especially over 3 inches, and ANY "deep" tones!....have a blast as the m6 is a coin, and jewelry sniper extraordinaire!.
