Gopher; The M-6 weight is 4.0 pounds with batteries. Close your eyes and the M-6 feels pretty much like the Classic IDX Pro, or other metered Classics. With the arm cuff moved back flush with the end of the rod, the M-6 balances very well. (at least for me)4.0 pounds is not a light detector but the weight is centered below the forearm and the machine does not feel that heavy. More than half the time a customers first comment when holding the M-6 for the first time is,"wow, it's light". By comparison, my Mr. Bill Modded Idx Pro with stock 950 coil weighs 3.96 pounds. If you are considering the Idx Pro and the M-6, in my mind there is no difference in weight or balance so I would not let that be a factor. They are both very fine coin machines. In heavy trash, I would go with the IDX Pro with the 5.3 ( or any good 6 inch coil)In moderate to light trash or flat out swinging, I would go with the M-6. The Tone ID will spoil you real quick. Most users use the A/M mode until they locate a target they want to check out. Isolate the target then go to the Tone Id Mode (disc) for more information. Hope this helps. If you get eather or both you have made a good decision. Dallas K&D Detectors
