I have had my M6 for over a year now and although my 11 year old uses it all the time I have been able to get some time with it. For the last 4 days, I have been using the MXT Pro and decided today to test both of them and see what I came up with.
I was hunting an older school that has been abandoned. I went over a specific area first with the M6 using the 9.5 inch coil. I found a couple of nails and a few screws. Next I put the same coil on the MXT Pro and again went over the area. This time a found a heart pendant, and several pennies, with some other nails, and various iron pieces. So I decided to hit the area one more time using the 5.3 inch coil on the MXT Pro. I did find some additional coins, pennies and although I did not dig them came across more iron than both the other two combined.
So what did I learn? In my little test the MXT Pro out performed the M6. I also liked the fact the MXT Pro had more audio than the M6 did and I did not have to use headphones to hear all the little hits. I also like the sensitivity of the MXT Pro over the M6. I am going to be doing some additional testing to see if this was a fluke or if it will continue. If it does I will get another MXT Pro as my son is now becoming accustomed to it and even he can tell differences. The weird VDI numbers is still throwing me but maybe it is just the ground I have been on.
So my hunt today yielded a couple of pendants, one small heart shaped with a bird on it, and a charm off a bracelet. Both of which were at 8 inches. A handful of pennies, a few dimes, and lots of screws, bolts, and nails.
Did I mention that I was also using my new digging toy? I used the raven by predator tools. It is SWEET. It cuts thru the hard ground and underbrush easily. It will come in handy this week as I do some hunting in some wooded areas.
