Can the M6 shaft/rod be changed over to the type that the dfx uses?

M6 shaft change?

It doesn't to me seem feasible when looking at them side by side (pictures) I think because the wiring loom from the black box to display/control is probably 6'' shorter for the m6.
but If you like to tinker and are willing to make the sacrifice(case it doesn't work) you might be able to pull something off.
I want to ask,is the reason your wondering if it could be done because of the handhold?
It appears to me to be the only difference in the shafts.
