M6 Sensitivity

I am fairly new MD'er and have a question about my M6.
I hunt the woods in the Chicago area a lot and sometime salt water beaches in Fl and the Upper Peninsula of Mi.
My question is that I most of the time run my sensitivity to almost max w/o a lot of chatter hoping to find deeper targets.
Am I actually losing depth with it maxed out as much as possible? Coil is either 9.5 or 6x10DD.
If hunting parks, tot lots etc I use the factory recommended settings.

Thanks,

I run my M6 with as high a senc as I can and still run stable (not much chatter). If I get a faint soild signal then I will crank up the senc to see if I can get a lock on VDI or image. I run tones all the time all the time but when I get into the above mentioned situation I will switch off tones, it seem like I might get a little more depth. Also at this point, if I am running with auto trac on I will lock it so it won't cancel out the weak signal. Hope this helps.

That's the way to run it for deepies. If you can tell a little chatter from real targets then there is no problem.
