M6 question

Just purchased a M6 and was wondering what coil other than the stock coil would be best for large area sweeps (dry salt sand beach and city parks) or would the stock coil be fine.

Also is the Sun Ray probe worth a shot for the M6

And question # 3...... I only want to Knock out Iron, will the # 1 discrimination setting do this (Dry sand salt Beach)

TIA Robert

The stock coil will be fine. To knock out most iron set the disc knob at 9 o'clock. The sunray's addition weight is up to you. I can tell you it works good. Your best coin shooting coil it the 5.3 eclipse.

I agree with Khouse, just stick with the stock coil for open areas. The 5.3 is deadly at tot lots, volleyball courts and trashy areas. Add that Sun Ray probe in the mix and you have a real coin/jewelry hunting machine. Good Luck.

My opinion differs a little from the others. I don't think the stock coil can come close to the BigFoot coil for hunting the large areas like beachs and open park areas. The stock 950 will go deeper but the BigFoot covers more than twice the foot print when you consider the cone shaped signal on the 950. For newer clad and jewelry, the BigFoot rules. If you're thinking about a pinpointer for use at the beach, it's not neccessary. The digging is easy and with a sand scoop you don't need a pinpointer. The grass is a different story. For deep coins a pinpointer is great but for coins within 2" - 3" of the surface just a probe works well.

Love the Sunray probe on my MXT. The 5.3 is a good coil for coin shooting and the 4X6 shooter is superb for heavy trash. The best I've used on any machine. The 6X10 DD is pretty good for coverage and separates better than the 9.5, but not as well as the smaller 2.
