M6 Owners - Depth Question on Coin Hunting

slowswing

New member
How deep could an M6 be expected to go in lightly to medium mineralized ground? What can be done to increase depth? What difference would a 10X12 SEF coil make, if any? I realize that leaves a lot of variables to deal with, but in general what can be expected and what help is available?

I just pulled a dime from an honest 8 inches in wet ground with a 5.3 coil today with my M6. It was very faint and I took off several inches of ground above it to see if I could hear it better. After I did it rang a solid 78 so I figured it for a dime. My deepest hit with my M6 was probably about 9 inches (a clad quarter) in wet, sandy soil and I got a nickel once at about 7 inches. Still, I also understand that I might be missing far shallower stuff.

Thanks for the info guys. That at least gives me some ideas of what to expect.
