M6 or Prism series for relics????

SGTLOWE

New member
Hello all. I have had the MXT for years and love it. Almost all I ever hunt is relics and the MXT has been a great machine for it. I will be buying a new machine for my wife to use. She has expressed interest in accompaning me on some of my hunts. It needs to be light weight and have TID, so I was looking at the Prism and M6. Does anyone know which will preform better relic hunting? I will also use the machine as another back up for the MXT.

Thanks,

John

M6. Your Mxt accessory coils will fit. It's the same platform as the Mxt. I had the Mxt n went to the M6 for the 7tones in parks and schools. HH

Robocoin called it as all MXT acc's will fit...the M6.....gosh the MXT would be an even better unit if it only had the tones of a M6...
Would wonder if a MXT could be modified to have the tones added...guess thats one for the modifications forum or perhaps Mr. Bill....

Hands down get her the M6 all your coils will work with it.
M6 MXT HAVE ALMOST THE SAME CIRCUITS RELICS WILL JUMP OUT OF THE GROUND WITH THE M6

Sure the coils match up with the M-6 but.... as you know, I being a relic hunter like yourself, prefer to use units that have different frequencies, I consider this a must, especially when choosing a back-up unit, or increasing your arsenal. Your MXT is running 14khz, as is the M6, also the same ground circuitry, with some other resembling features, and far as TID goes, all we relic hunters need and most prefer is that Dual Tone/ Mixed Mode Audio and let VDI do its job. I say widen your arsenal with a lower frequency unit, they respond differently to certain metals than your higher freq units and can make a difference in the variant ground you face in your travels as a Military man( Thanks again:usaflag:). Honestly, I really favor the lower to mid frequency units for Civil War relics, but there's nothing sweeter than pounding a site with a medium frequency unit(6-8khz) and then following up with the higher frequency unit (14-18khz), or viesa-versa.... they're different monsters all together.
Now, that being said, considering your wife, staying in that price range, gotta be a :whites: of course, long standing performance with great reputation for performance, great for relic ridden house sites, I would say take a look at the Classic 5 id (8.1khz) at Kellyco. Great TID, excellant Discrimination circuitry, and performs well in all ground conditions. Hate to say it but the Prizm would be last on my list..oh boy, bet thats gonna leave a bruise. Just adding to the mix fella's.

See ya in March,
Dave
