M6 opinions wanted

Hi, I'm thinking about buying an M6; I've found a great price. I'm having trouble finding information about the machine, though. Searches have brought up very little. I've got an MXT with several coils. Can they be used on the M6? It looks like the screen is set up for coins, but will VDI's be the same for relics as on my MXT? How's the discrimination and ground balancing? Any opinions on the machine, good or bad, would be appreciated.

The M6 and MXT are basically the same machine with the exception that the M6 hasn't the relic mode I don't recall if the MXT has tone ID like the M6 has. Coils are interchangeable. It's a great machine and would be a excellent addition to your MXT. Stop thinking about it and get it.

I second the motion.

So my question is: Why would someone who already has an MXT want to buy an M6? If the MXT already does more than the M6, and they are the same technology, what would buying an M6 do for you?
I have a couple different detectors, one MXT and one PI machine. I had one then bought the other because they are very different and I use them for different applications.
Just curious.

In response to Goldchaser, I'm thinking about the M6 because I usually hunt for relics but have wanted a simpler coin machine, and, more important, something for my friends to use. The MXT, in coin mode, doesn't have the tone ID and I find myself constantly staring at the screen, especially in trashy areas. The M6's tone ID seems to be a nice feature. If it weren't for the great price, I'd stick with just the one machine.

The M6 is great for coin and jewelery hunting . The seven tones allow you to hunt by tone and glance at the screen if you like the sound. It also lets you cherry pick listening for high tones only. Good luck. BOB

basic platform and work essentially the same. They naturally share all search coils. For many who are shopping for a detector for he first time, or moving to the White's brand, they have a challenge trying to decide between the two.

I've owned 4 MXT's and now have my 5th, and MXT-300. I've also owned 2 M6s and, quite possibly, I'll be adding another M6 to my personal battery as there are strengths they both have.

Thanks for the great information, Monte. I'm looking forward to the M6 being a very user friendly machine for friends to use. I agree that the MXT would be a much better machine if it had the multi-tone ID in the C/J mode. It's still a keeper though.

I recently bought a very nice used M6 . I've been using it coin-shooting in trashy areas with a 5.3 eclipse coil on it .I really like this machine a lot . I have gotten very comfortable with it in the short amount of time I've had it. I really like the 7 tones with the trigger finger set up . I have the stock 950 coil that came with it and gave that a try at the beach , I was very happy with that also . I will definitely be keeping this machine .
