M6-MXT

Lets say that both machines were single tone only Is there a difference between the two if both were single tone only.

Hi umax there is some difference between the two . The MXT has a prospecting mode in it and also has a adjustable threshold that the M6 doesn't have and a relic mode . The M6 can be shut down to one tone or seven which ever you choose to use . If the MXT is being run in Relic mode it runs on a two tone sound ID but only in that mode . I have owned both but like the M6 best cause I like the mixed tones so I don't have to watch the screen all the time like you do in one tone . The mode the M6 runs in is the same as the coin mode on the Mxt . Hope this answers some of your questions .

Using your scenario - The only difference would be an adjustable threshold on the mxt. Just because the mxt has a relic mode doesn't mean your M6 can't find them as well. In my opinion unless your planning on prospecting the better choice is the M6.
