m6 hunt

Well-known member
Bought my old m6 back of dealer I traded it to. Managed to find a few pocket spills, three nickels about 6" deep. About $2 in change. Dont underestimate this detector. Sure it only has two knobs, is a very simple unit to set and run, but it likes the clad. Found a silver dime today also

Thats exactly why people underestimate it.......it looks too simple.I'd put the M6 up against anything on the market as far as overall performance is concerned as it's still one of the best machines available.

THE BEST for jewelery!

Have always fancied getting a M6,mainly as i think it would be at home on alot of my saxon/roman sites,i think Neil has hit the nail on the head when he mentioned about it only having minimal controls, but its what it does that interests me more than whistles and bells and if one came along at the right price i could well find the combination lock too my wallet and buy one.

Another bonus as well i could also use all my coils and RNB battery packs that i use on my DFX as well, not sure about my Hotshot coil though, but gut feeling tells me it would work.

Its fantastic on ancient sites, especially with the 8x6 coil. The thing about this machine is the fact that not only is it great on inland sites,it is also a genuine wet sand hunter at the beaches.....it is ultra stable on the salt sand and goes deep too.
I mainly search beaches now since I moved to the coast, but if I hunted both inland and beaches and I could only have one detector,it would be the M6.

Thats good to hear that they perform really well on ancient sites, and yes i do have a SEF8x6 all ready that i use on my DFX,so its just a matter of waiting and finding a decent example. Thanks again for the info.

Don't let the M6 lack of controls sway you from buying. It is a coin and jewelry hog.I have found many a deep silver with it as well.Pulled 2 14k rings out of a football field within 20 minutes of each other.I own more than 20 metal detectors and I will never get rid of my M6.Its so easy and a pleasure to use.

I traded an at pro for this unit. Then I acquired a v3i and the m6 out hunted the v3i. ( didnt know v3i well ) I picked a 30x30 section on a field and carefully worked it two different directions. Put v3i up and got m6 out. Same section, I could not get stood back up because of the amount of targets. The v3i had missed some $3 in clad

I've said tha same thing more than once, "My M6 also out hunts my V3i in coins." I don't know why I relentlessly keep the V3i in use all the time except for the fact it does help me eliminate digging junk targets due to it's ananysis screens.

I'm proud of my M6. I think I'll take it out over these warm Texas days ahead, to my old hunting spots. Thanks the idea. I'll let ya know if I do less walking andf more diggng coins, IN PLACES where I can spend an hour and be lucky to dig up less than 50c with the V3i.
