M6 finds

New member
Hi All, I just posted my finds on the main detecting forum and thought I would share over here as well. I'm new to detecting this summer and already have my second detector the M6. I started off with a BH Land Star and really liked it but after reading about the MXT & M6 I just had to have one. Monte gave me a good deal on a basically never use M6 and I jumped on it. I only have about 4 total hours on it but am learning it very quickly keeping it in tones and learning the talk. The park I hunted today gets hunted so I thought I had a very good 2 hours.

7 quarters
20 dimes
5 nickels
56 pennies
sterling heart
big fake diamond, made my heart rush.

Way to go on a great hunt!!

This is a good place to ask questions. Nice hunt. Which coil are you using? Rob

I'm using the stock 950 but I'm keeping my eyes open for a good buy on a used 5.3 eclipse, hoping to find one for around $50. I like the stock coil but want the 5.3 for the trashy sites I hunt, the stock sure goes nuts in a bunch of trash.

You sure did have a good two hours of hunting. Nice amount of clad and a little piece of silver to boot. I think the stock coil 9.5" gets a bad rap. I love the coil and Lord knows I've tested many others. Honestly, each coil has it's purpose. Every one of them!

Nancy

Nancy, I've went through the old posts on the forum researching the MXT & M6 and have read you really like the stock coil, to be totally honest I like it too. Have you ever used the 5.3? From what I've read the 5.3 & the 6x10 DD are the most popular, Monte really likes the 5.3 and his opinion goes a long way with me. It's been a tough decision between the two, kinda like choosing between the MXT & M6 but from what I've read the 5.3 gets better depth and the 6 x 10 is harder to pinpoint with.

Yes, I do like the stock coil. The 5.3 is second on my list. For me, it's a very nice coil. Very accurate and it gets in-between the trash. You have to go very slow, and that's a plus so you don't miss the targets. I have used the other and didn't care for the pinpointing. I've got many different coils for my MXT and each one has it's place. This is my opinion on the two coils and others will disagree. Everyone is different and they have different types of soil also. Hope your finds are plentiful. HH, Nancy

"I have to admit I hate digging pennies, Nice rings!"
Me too, I hate newer pennies, I always think of ways to knock out new pennies and still get silver dimes. Some are so close together, it is a sacrifice. Can that be done with the M6 successfully, or not? With the MXT? Is the DFX more surgical and better at doing this or not?

"big fake diamond, made my heart rush."
The same happend to me very recently, I dug up a plastic Jewelry Box with a big fake diamond bracelet in it, a surreal shock for a moment!

It's the older copper cents that are close to the (VDI) silver dimes, but if you listen very carefully, there's a little bit of a difference in the sound. The new zinc cents come in the upper 50's to lower 60's on the VDI. Gotta love that MXT! :cheekkiss::detecting:
HH to all,
Nancy

You may never want another brand now that you
have tried Whites.....well maybe you might get a
Garrett Ace 250. Check the pawn shops. Once in
a whike you find detectors there. I found an MXT with extra coil
in a pawn shop. He wanted $250 for it. The owner said he had
had it sitting there for two weeks. I called the next day
and asked him to hold it for at least an hour because I would
drive up. The MXT was sold just after my first conversation
the day previous!

I ended up buying a used MXT from a park employee a few days
later for $300 with standard coil. No extras. Its been a good
machine as has been the Ace 250.

I was using the stock 9.5 and working through the trash. I just bought a 5.3 but haven't been out with it yet, I hope to get back to that park this week if work permits and see how it dose.
