M6 and steel bottle caps?

HaroldILL.

Active member
I was wondering how the M6 handles old rusty steel bottle caps? Doe it I.D. them as high tone coins or low tone trash? And I'm not talking about screw caps, Just steel bottle caps. Thanks.

Mine will ID them as lower/mid tone trash most of the time. I have noticed that every now and then one will ring up about the zinc range, but the ID jumps around so I don't dig them and know its a bottle cap. I also rarely dig the aluminum screw caps now as those ID in the low to mid 70's, between a zinc and copper cent. I can often get them to break up as well so those rarely fool me anymore. I am using the 950 concentric coil with sensitivity at the preset mark and discrimination set at the first #1 factory preset mark. I probably get the great ID due to use of the concentric coil; maybe those using DD coils can chime in because their mileage may vary...
