M6 and More Relics

Got out again with the M6 and the 1400 coil. Again the area is covered with briar stubble 4-5 inches high....Finding a target at 3-4 inches or so with the 1400 and the sensitivity FCW, results in almost and overload... My hunting partner with the MXT and 1400 continues to be embarrassed... I don't know all the contributing factors but the edge continually goes to the M6.... The area covered was a Confederate position that took heavy rifle fire... 1 piece of scrapnel, remains of 2 .69's, other calibers from .58's to small caliber pistol balls... brass items... Your mileage may vary but my M6 is producing and I am showing pictures of those finds...

Is your friend using similar Gain and Discrimination settings?

Have you swapped 1400 DD coils to see if there's a difference between them? I know that from time to time thru the years I have had a 'hot' coil,. and also a few that were a bit whimpy in performance (of dead right out of the box!).

Oh, and Congrats on the good finds!

try this afternoon if we get out....I will trade 1400 coils with him....
Here are our settings...
M6..... FCW Sensitivity....FCCW Discrimination....Ground Tracking...

MXT.... FCW Sensitivity....Fccw Discrimination....Ground Tracking...
Relic Mode
We both hunted with the 950 coils a week or so again and the advantage was to the M6 too.
David, the man I hunt with is one of the best relic hunters around...When we both used MXT's, it was a toss-up on who got the most....... I don't know what's going on... ..So I'm open to any ideas, is my enthusiam playing a role, am I just walking over more targets, is this a "hot M6", is David's MXT not
so "hot" or could it be that there really is an Edge?(Fisher guys,
don't laugh).....Fire away..let's see what ya come up with......
