M6 and 6" DD excerator coil

How deep could you expect this coil to find coins in low mineralized ground. Mainly hunt playgrounds, schools, or ballparks that have a fair amount of junk.

I use the 6x10 DD on my M6 and in good ground I can get around 7 inches on coin sized targets. Since the diameter of the 2 coils is about the same, you should probably expect to get about the same.

I have the 6inch ex coil on my mxt also have the mini 4x6 by whites they are both good coils but the ex for me hands down for depth for audio response return and target id.Depth is great and depends in different areas and sensitivity,on the mxt i watch for the number vid 50 use to kind of pass it up with other coil but with this coil is usually something good,I think you will enjoy this on the m6 if it works like it does on my mxt. Here i refer you to my first week with the 6" ex coil. hope this helps good luck and good hunting

I just got my Excelerator 6"dd last week and it ROCKS!!!! My first good find was a navy eagle button in my own yard which has been hunted to death. Saturday I took it to a trashy picnic grove at a 100 yr old trolley park and found a couple wheats and some other newer coins, but it performs amazing in these situations. I know alot of folks only use Whites coils, but the Excelerators are to be reckoned with. Depth is almost as good as the stock 950 eclipse, but target separation is where it shines. My M6+6" Excelerator = awesome performance!!!!!!!

There's no hard, fast rule because it will depend upon the ground , the settings used, he sweep speed, etc. However, I was working three renovation sites last fall with my M6 & 6" EQ2 DD coil and had great performance in and around trash, mainly iron nails, and in less littered areas I got hits on smaller coins down to 7".

Keep in mind that DEPTH is a benefit from working lower-trashed sites. JUNKY sites will mask deeper coins and other small targets so you need to have good, quick response and recovery (you'll get that from the M6 and 6" DD coil), and use a slower sweep. Naturally, the more trash you recover the better depth and responsiveness you'll have from the 'hidden' deeper targets.

Thanks for everyone's input, I was hesitant to buy a 6" DD coil at first but not now. After reading your posts, I will be placing an order tomorrow. Ohio Fred your take with that coil was amazing. I could use the good luck. Monte, thanks for your post which is as always very informative and stated in a manner that is understandable for someone that is new to this endeavor. One last thing, is pinpointing tough for anyone else. How about finding the coin after the hole has been excavated.

Well I am still learning how to pinpoint with my 6" excelerator. It seems to be dead center of the coil, the last few items I've dug I have been right on. This seems different than other DD coils, my Tesoro 5.75DD pinpoints about an inch or so in from the front. These little coils are still deadly accurate no matter what!!!!!

Sometimes i loose it in whole and cant seem to pick it up then i know it is probably another 4 ".Sometimes loose track in pile of dirt but with mxt i can go to prospecting mode and it will pick it up .A lot of people have a hand held pin pointer which i would like to have but they seem a little to big for me try to travel light.
