Got out today at a park i hunt every so often Ive had a 5.3 coin i got with my bonus bucks, used it 1 time and didnt seem to like it, and always hunted with the 9.50 and loved it but i read a few more reviews on the 5.3, so back on it went and today found 6 qts one of them 8 inches down 4 dms 2 niks & 20 or so lincolns and for the 1st time a pair of reading glasses 2 inches down it seems like i covered less ground but found just about as many coins in the same time, ill leave it on for a few more hunts to really get the hang of it then ill decide which 1 ill keep on most of the time === it does swing easyer with the 5.3 , i havent found a ring for a while im at 27, the more i use the M6 the more i like it.

Zamora - I know hot you feel about the 5.3.
When I had my M6 I purchase the 5.3 put in on and I
felt like gosh ,,,,it will take forever to cover all the ground,
I liked the target separation but later sold the coil,

What really worked well for me is the 6x8 DD,
That was like a happy medium and I loved it,

Eventually sold the M6 because I got the
"snydrome bug" that is when you think the other
detector is better than the one you own,

Catching that can be expensive - got that bug
a few times and again - I am in the detector
buying lookie mode!

I hope you enjoy your new M6. It was one of the
most enjoyable detectors I used and I always did
well with it,

Take Care!

Larry, I get the same way at times! I read about someone's spectacular finds with a _________ (fill in the blank) model detector and think, "Hmmm, maybe if I had one of those..." Maybe we should start a support group!

I don't think I have ever enjoyed any detector more than the M6. I keep trying others, but one of these days, I hope to wise up and just keep one detector - which will almost certainly be the M6.

It is a detector that does everything well,it may not be the quickest or deepest in ultimate terms, but it is a detector that has a well rounded performance.Coupled with this type of performance,it's simplicity of operation and excellent ground tracking(not to mention top quality),you have a detector that can cope with virtually any type of detecting you choose to do.It's one of the best ever made in my opinion.

White's M6 has been an often ignored and under-promoted model, I believe, because too often I've heard that consumers were kind of 'pushed' to the MXT or MXT Pro. For many hobbyists, who are predominantly coin hunters, the M6 offers a lot of performance in a simple and easy-to-use model. I've liked it sine it was released, and the 5.3 Eclipse is my most-used search coil for all of the 'M' like of detectors.

That coil has also been overlooked because consumers think it is just slightly over 5" in diameter, but the physical measurement is 6

Z,

I posted a thread, here on finds, about 2 years ago you should read. It is titled " Virgin Parks Or State Of Mind". It is a very good read. Great for new and old alike.
I have found the 5.3 will generally match the 9.50 coil 95% of the time, and it will teach you to become a better hunter.
Here is my experience with the 6x10 DD:

My detector partner and I have tested the 6 X 10 against the 5.3 with 2 different MXT's and found that it is an inferior coil. The 5.3 out performs it hands down in all but the most "HOT" of ground.
The 5.3 pin points like a rifle shot and will get you depth like you can't believe. More so then the 6 x 10.
The 6x10 was also a much heavier coil.

My soil in the area's I work are between 57 and 75, very mild.
The test area of the 6 x 10 was in the 70 + range. The 6 X 10 would only find targets up to 4 1/2 " while the 5.3 was finding targets in the 6 to 7" depth with both detectors in the same soccer field.

We use the 5.3 for 95% of our hunting. The 5.3 is a 6 3/4" coil so you don't gain but very little coverage with the 6 X 10, but you lose the sensitivity and depth of the concentric.
This test was performed in C&J mode, at preset gain, which I always hunt at, and discrimination set between 1 and 2.

You are right, sometimes a smaller coil can get better depths in certain situations.

yea i cant even walk 10 feet with out hitting something pennys dimes qts and about 1/5th of my digs are trash but hey i read over & over you got to dig to find, i just like the fact that if i didnt find these treasures no one would and they would be lost for ever, ive probley rolled up $100 in clad and bought batteries gas lotto tickets but ive saved all my trinkets and good finds, Z

Since its winter in WI where I am from my next detector purchase
would probably be in early Spring.

In the past I purchased things off the internet from some of the dealers on
the board - shipping the detector to me. Never any issues.

I think the next time I buy ..I will fly to whatever or drive to where-ever
and buy from a dealer that carries Whites and Garrett and
compare different models.

I may be going out of my way but I can make the trip enjoyable
and might even save me money in the long run because it
may be the cure for "detector syndrome".

In my head ,,,it will ease my mind that what I purchase is the
model that seemed best for me.
