M-6 ?

If you have Disc. dial say up to tabs will you still get a display read out on nickels, foil or iron that you go over?

The M6 is simply blanking the audio on disced out targets. Have you by chance checked to see if high disc settings effect the detection depth on coins?

Good Question...

Since I operate my M6 at Very Low Disc to NO Disc Motion, I pulled it off my display rack to confirm before posting this response. Using the High Preset Coin Only level of Discrimination, I scanned a nickel. NO Audio Response, but the Display correctly read nickel at 18". Therefore the Visual Discrimination is FULL Time. In the DFX you can turn your Visual Discriminator On OR Off.

Since we hunt primarily with Audio First, the higher the Audio Discrimination Level, the less depth you'll experience, even on coins that are accepted in the air, deep in the ground you'll note in your test garden that a dime @ 8" with Low Disc Level has a significantly improved signal than at higher disc levels.

Think of a Discriminator as a filter... any amount of filtering starts causing an escalating DEGRADING of the Signal from targets in the ground.
