m-6

Got out early this morning with my brand new m-6. Worked flawlessly. Always surprised how the coil at the very edge of swing will still pickup targets.Found a few coins that way. I'm using the 6x10 dd coil. My favorite on this machine. Was surprised when I opened the box to check out the detector that it was painted flat black? I always saw them painted gloss black. Anyways it looks good and most importantly , it finds the goodies. No gold this morning but hopefully next time.

Did they change the paint job. Is it like the mxt pro? If possible can you post a pic. But whatever color they paint it the M6 it is a great machine and I use one all the time. Of my 3 machines I use the M6 the most.

Can't load pics, files too big. But I think the flat black looks good just like the gloss black.

I hope Whites doesn't get rid of the M6 thinking the MX5 is better. The M6 is one of Whites best kept secrets. The only thing they could do to make it better is to come out with the M6pro model. Just like the MXTpro model. Add a back light - tone choice and ground grab button. I don't remember reading about even one M6 being sent in for service? How many MX5's have been sent back?

I see whites dropping m6 and mxt regular if they havent already. Throw the mx5 in place of them then add a dual frequency. ;)

I was hoping for them to come out with the M6Pro and dropping the MX5. I've seen some of the same MX5's being sold over and over or returned for audio issues. I don't think I've ever seen a bad review on a M6?

Yes ive seen same thing. But the way whites talks that may be direction they go. I love the mxtpro and m6 just wish m6 had backlight and choice of tones without using toggle

I'm with you. Give us the back light. Give us the option of 1,2,3,4 and multi tones. The ground grab as well. The M6pro would sell millions. They already have the pod from the mxtpro's. Just do your magic and stick it on a M6........
I know some like the audio of the MX5 but to me it's too saturated and muffled like it's in a carboard box. It sounds like a Prizm. The smooth audio of the M6 and all MXT's are nice sounding. You can tell a lot about a target with those. But not so well with the MX5's.
Also Whites needs to make all their metal box machines wireless capable and drop the price of those headphones. This way all of our machines would work with just one set of wireless headphones.

Having used the mx5, and having the tone issue, in my opinion the m6 is a lot better. Now like folks say, if they would add some of the features that mxt pro has , like back light etc, I would definitely buy one. The m 6 is hard to beat.

That would be a hot selling m6. Another thing the m6 has that the mx5 dont is a headphone jack in a great location. The mxtpro has its trigger too close to grip for my big hands. I have to keep my index finger pointed straight out all the time. Change that and make it $699 then sell m6pro for $499. ;)

The six needs the tone switch dedicated first off, not actuated by a forward push of the toggle switch like you were going into analyze mode. Next, it should have a standby mode when you lay it down to dig so the audio ain't always blarring and the auto-track doesn't stay active. Lastly, the backlight, even though I'd never miss not ever having that feature myself, would please most.

Why they put the multi tone switch like they did is a total mystery to me. martin

Putting the MXTpro pod on the rod would solve everything. There are a lot of times I could use a backlite. Plus I hunt in 2 tone mode most of the time. So having some more tone options would be nice. Yes the MX5 has a ton of stuff packed in there. But it ain't no M6 or MXTpro. That's a shame because the M6/MXT's are what? 15 years old? I don't remember?

The mx5 is deep though. I did do alot of comparisons between mx5 and m6 and mxt. Even all across the board. The tones to me do sound better with headphones. Im just so used to the metal box style its hard to make the permanent change.. With that said im looking for another detector. I may just pick up another mx5 Why. Well the issues i have with mx5 are not as bad as issues with m6. I love volume control, 2 tones, back light, weather resistant, pinpoint lock, notch or variable disc, threshold headphone jack in rear and large easy to read numbers.

It does have a lot of stuff crammed in that little box.
