[size=medium]First, it is a little tough to compare these two with the Fisher CZ-5 due to the differences in design each manufacturer took. Having said that, let me say that of all the 'CZ' models from Fisher, the CZ-5 was my favorite. I personally owned most of the different CZ models and found the others to pale compared with the CZ-5, and I am especially including the 'replacement' for that model.
So let's see what the CZ offers, good and bad, then compare the Matrix M6 an Prizm 5.
The CZ-5 features manual ground balance, an comes standard with an 8" coil. There are available smaller and larger coils, from 5" to 10". The CZ-5 does have a segmented TID with a few "zones" or "segments" to categorize targets. To ME one of the weaknesses of the CZ-5, and other's so packaged, wasn't the weight of the unit as much as the poor balance. The top-mounted control housing and the heavier coil (std.) gave it low marks in the area of comfort. My opinion, of course.
Now comes the Prizm. It is a lighter weight model, but with the stock 950 on the Prizm V, I feel it is not well balanced. Additionally, It features a factory preset GB for the All Metal mode and also a preset GB for the Disc. mode. It lacks a variable Disc. control, offering only a segmented Disc. adjustment. The only accessory coil to replace the 950 is an 8". Nothing smaller.
The Matrix M6 is outfitted with different features and better design, I feel. The M6 has an under-slung control housing which aides the balance issue, and there are an ample number of factory coils for it, as well as some excellent after-market Excelerator coils. The M6 features an Auto-Trac circuitry that you can opt to use of 'Lock,' and the variable Discriminate control lets the operator 'fine tune" the desired Disc. setting. The visual display gives more useful information than the CZ-5 or Prizm 5, and I feel the M6 is an easy pick of the three.
While silent-search in the motion Disc. mode, they are threshold-based in the All Metal/Pinpoint modes. If you want a serious detector with great in-the-field performance, go with the M6 over the P-5,
