Friday I went back to the old farm location I've been posting about for the last few weeks. I pulled two more large cents and boy did they sing out ! Also found an
18(?)6 "un centime" which I think is French, although I could't find it in the world coin book under France. The other two coins are an Asian coin about the size of a dime and an 1895 IH. Other things I found there were a bell, a few flat buttons and a large caliber musket ball.
Saturday I only had time for a short hunt and found an odd button in a wooded area. It's two-piece like a military button but it's flat instead of domed. The image
on it is a star but if you look close the points are like long leaves and there appear to be "oak leaves" protruding between the points from the outer edge. It's marked
"extra rich" on the back but I can't quite make out the maker until I've cleaned it more.
Sunday I met up with a friend of mine. We got permission to do a small field and he found a George III half penny. The owner invited us back to detect the rest of the grounds around the house. From there we went to another house which produced almost no good targets but I rounded out the day just before dusk with the
1898 o Barber half (I thought my buddy was going to hit me over the head with his shovel ! ) All in all it was a good weekend !
