Went for a marathon solo spin with the Excal on monday, into a 946A 0.0L and SE winds at 5-10. Was in the water by 845A and things started pretty slow. My nemesis showed up shortly after my arrival, with his ACE 250 and was hunting the edge of the wet sand, leaving his holes open and I'm sure upon closer inspection, I would have also found his trash targets. I have not discussed this with him, as it's difficult to change the bad habits of an 80 year old! LOL! Had been on 6 goldless hunts, so today was a celebration, where I'm concerned. When that 1st gold showed, I was overjoyed!

The nut was exceptionally knarley as ya'll can see. It includes some VERY BIZARRE targets too, including, but not limited to a log splitting wedge and a pigtail off a boat trailer! Can slaw once again gave me fits! Lead count was pretty good, so I felt good about my possibilities. Clad count was $4.93, pretty good for around here. There was a 1942D wheatie in the mix too!

The jewelry items included a hair barrett w/rhinestones, a .925 stud, w/CZ, a bridge with 2 teeth (never recovered a bridge before, but I can't say it was on my list), LOL! Now it came in REAL LOW, like stainless, but maybe some of you dental pros out there can tell me what my gold possibilities are there, as I have not tested it. The 1st gold ring was the larger one. It says, "PRIMERIA", spanish for primary class ring and it is 10K. The last gold ring was real fine w/a pink stone and 10K. Just kept hunting. as the clad was still coming and finally gave it up at sundown at 530P. I am a little sore today, but it was WORTH IT!

hey gf glad you found something. i went sunday trough were just starting to develope again. alot of soft sand . a few holes were begging to develope so i knew chances of finding gold were slim, it looks good thursday evening through the weekend. hopfully i'll be off. hh

Looks like you put the muscles to work on that hunt. Excellent double on the Gold. The Pink Stone one is a real little Beauty. I love the shreded aluminum, sounds so close to gold on my Explorer. Well I bet that area you did is a lot quieter now. Hope your gold streak continues...

You are the man Gulf Hunter. Looks like you cleaned house today, great job.

About the mutiple crown caps you dug......what do they sound like to you?......to me they sound like crown caps.....no other targets sounds like crown caps to me.....excal sounds that is.....why do you dig them?

Its been real slim pickings out there lately. I ran into Bob out there that last time I was out there. He never covers his holes. I talk to him and Curtis, they usually hunt together Curtis is much more courteous.LOL... Anyhow good stuff. Can't wait to see what that cz is gonna do for ya!

Mike, when I fill a Folgers coffee can full of scrap, I give it to the guys that come by our shop for them to recycle. They are really poor and it helps them to feed their families. I had taken around 30lbs. to one of the facilities and they told me $5. I ain't a player. Somone else can have it. I just do my part to remove them from the environment. Bait shops may purchase them too, who knows?

That's a pretty stone as well. The bridge looks pretty nasty but if it's palladium it is worth sending it to the lads at Midwest. Palladium is used in high end white gold rings instead of nickle because it is a noble metal like platinum and does not cause an allergic reaction like nickel often does. It's not Platinum but it's close enough.
When did you get rid of the GQA2? Will you be replacing it with the CZ21?

Nice Hunt Buddy,

BDA:cool:

I hope you guys are right about palladium! Roy on the other board guessed titanium, who knows? May send it in to Midwest with the next batch and at least use the $ to cover refining costs. I know nothing about bridges, except I got one and I ain't gunna put it in my mouth! LOL! Need to Clorox that unit too! Sold the GQA2 about 2 week ago to a Fla. hunter. He had already bagged at least 3 gold rings with it on the 1st outing! Unfortunately this area is not nearly so target rich! Wish it were! I am going to use the proceeds of the sale to fund the CZ21, but I am not so sure I can be PI-less, but I may go a season without one and see if I really suffer.

I have always dug the bottle caps when I am in the water or wet sand, and one time the cap was masking another target, it was just some clad. If a cap was over or near a gold target would it mask the gold out? Besides that I feel I owe the Environment that much to get rid of them. HH
