my son helped me lower the sinsitivity to 10 and I fond a dime and three pinnies thats great. thank you so much for your help and we can ajust from there.;):geek:

then I drop it down to around 10-15 which works great. Also. I notice while hunting at the beach, the DD coil will false more then the 8" concentric coil. I tried both & the Concentric 8"er is the way to go at least for me anyway.

That's funny, because I never had any problem running mine at 18 in the wet sand and maybe 16 or 17 in the shallow water with minimal falsing. Even with the 12.5" coil I could run 17 or 18 all day and get killer depth too. Must be the different locale.

Hi Mike,
I am not sure why the DD coil would false MORE than the concentric coil except the smaller coverage. Usually people recommend a DD coil for when the concentric coils are falsing :) as the DDs see a smaller section of the sand. Could it be that you have some debris/saltwater inside your DD coil cover? Or if your sand has a high amount of magnetic iron so it is not the DD or concentric but the smaller coil coverage that is helping? But IMO if your Fisher doesn't false, I don't think the Quattro would.
I have this really bad black sand beach which used to be a channel connecting a volcano island to the sea and a CZ5 & PI unit would not stop falsing on every sweep. A ML Sov was able to hunt it but had to sweep much slower and it worked only for the first four inches. The best thing I did was to look for another beach! I've not tried the Quattro there yet but hope to do that this summer.
