Lowered my expectations and had a good day

Its getting cold up hear a few days ago it was 17 F and i know the season is over but it warmed up to 35 yesterday and i got out after seing gramma at the nursing home I went out whith the goal of being happy if i only found just one dime or just one quarter or even one nickle I started out in all metal and dug many nails some at a meashured 6" thats good for my compadre and lots of foil and trash well just befor i had to leave i found a coin spill of three quarters i was really blessed and totaly happy had a great time i was getting frustrated that i was not finding gold coins and 5.000 daller rings i think i just need to relax and enjoy the hobby and let God deside when i find the jakpot

I agree. When I go out, I just figure what ever comes is the way it is. Somedays I do quite well, other days not so well, but every outing is enjoyable and even though I've been at it for a number of years, it seems every now and then I still learn something new about the hobby.

Every once in a while I also find it necessary to "recalibrate". I live in Virginia Beach and split my detecting time 60/40 between beach and land. I've had some dry spells where I haven't found much and considered not spending so much time accomplishing nothing. Then I remembered why I got into this hobby. It has much more to do with getting away from the daily rat race than it does with what I find. I've learned to appreciate the time "alone with God in my headphones" without any consideration for what booty I can show my friends.

I've learned to slow down my hunt and take on smaller pieces of real estate each time I go out. Generally, the less I care about what I find, the more I end up finding.

... every time I go out. I plan and research and have every reason for looking where I do for something really great.

If I dont find it, I do as you do, Gunnar - I thank God for another chance to get a back ache, dirty fingernails and to stay above ground a bit longer.
I can't take lick of my "treasure" with me when I go to meet God, no matter how much I find. So I don't sweat what I don't have.

Great post, brother. Say "Hi," to gramma when you go next time.

Main thing for me is as long as I had fun. If I get a tab, my machine is working - anything that goes in the goody bag is just a bonus. If something goes in either pouch then it was a successful hunt because I was able to get out, and if I make it back home all o-k, then then I consider it fun - and that's what counts to me. My dogs really enjoy it when they come along - time spent with them.
And if the wife doesn't go, she usually robs my goody pouch when I arrive home - after all that !!!!!:surrender: And then I'll do it again:blink:

Same here.

I couldn't get out until late.

I hunted in a park, around and in a tot lot.

Found less than 20 cents.

A couple of doo-dads and some junk.

But, I enjoyed my self.

Just gettin more time in with tha machine

is enough for me. I just went down tha

road from me. Low cost, fun way to end

tha day.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog
