Lower shaft to upper shaft plastic insert

New member
Hello all, I recently broke the connecting shaft for my Bounty Hunter Tracker IV....it was the intermediate plastic shaft that connects the lower with the upper shaft...may be the same on other models...does anyone have an idea as to where I can get one? Maybe someone here on the forum?
Thanks in advance.

I bought a lower shaft for my 4" coil, along with coil covers from this place:

Scroll down to the last item in BH Accessories.

They had the best price including shipping.

I believe what he is referring to is the locking collar...These can also be bought from:

http://www.detecting.com/

I have recently broke mine too...probably from taking the machine from a warm house out into the cold and twisting it...made plastic brittle.
Hope the replacement part comes with good instructions, because I cannot figure out how the thing comes off or goes on.
If all else fails, you can order a whole new upper shaft with the collar already on it.
If you have a one piece shaft and your referring to the insulator at the bottom of the shaft, you will have to order a whole new shaft to replace it...
Do not think they come separate, but correct me if I am wrong.

Hi baggins, I just got back from the Gold Coast, what a time for this topic to come up. I snapped another shaft this trip myself! My T4 does'nt have a locking collar insert at all, and I have owned 2 units for about 3 1/2 to 4 yrs. The only plastic on my shafts are in the lower stem, at the bottom where the coil attaches. A locking collar would be great, I might look at the BH site, thanks for the tip BH-Landstar. HH regards Nugget.:detecting:

Ooops, silly me! I just measured the $15 replacement lower shaft and it's six inches shorter (20") than the original (26")(both are all plastic). It's still usable, just runs a little close to the feet.
