with ctx ,how do you lower the manual sensitivity for finding shallow and recently lost targets.tried what the manual says but it won'tlet me.got to being something wrong, but what?emubob

You can decrease your sensitivity in two ways, either by lowering the auto (range from -3 to +3), or by placing the machine in manual and lowering the sensitivity as low as 1 (though I'm not sure why you would want to lower it to 1). To put the machine in manual, press and hold the button just to the left of the center "book" button.. this is the sensitivity button. The sensitivity menu will pop up... you can select auto or manual, as well as set your manual sensitivity from 1 to 30.

Hope this helps.

You can also shorten the rod and swing higher above the ground...

Both answers are great, but IDX hit on something that many don't use or think about.

Especially if you've got surface targets that give you multiple 'beeps' each pass, some people try to fiddle with the sensitivity...
...when simply raising the coil (7" to 10") eliminates the extra signals, and helps you pinpoint far more quickly.

It's especially effective if you've got a surface coin spill, and are getting what sounds like machine gun fire.
Just raise the coil and listen to the extra/false signals disappear.
(You can easily replicate this in your back yard by tossing coins on top of the ground.)
