lower rod sticking. Has anyone tried wax?

I keep mine clean and just tried the armor all wipes works great so far.

Don't use anything that will attract dust and dirt, it will just get worse. I haven't used anything on mine since I learned how to properly extend the lower rod..... lift up on it slightly while extending and mine works perfectly.

Larry is so correct here. Once you learn how its done you will never have any issues. But Armor All does help doesn't attract dirt or sand. It will also smooth the roughtness created by opening and closing. Mine was no longer black it was worn grey from repeated opening! It still lacks the black color but is smooth again!

Keep it clean just wiggle it a little bit. It will wear from sliding and get ruff. Sand it with 220 or higher grain sand paper and spray it with a light coat of clear of paint or varnish will be shinny again. Already have sprayed mine once think I used some clear spar varnish I had. Have used carbon fiber oars on my boat for years they wear and do the same thing turn dull or white. Once all the varnish is worn of you can get the fibers in your skin just like fiberglass it sucks. Duck tape will pull them out almost instant relief. Do your self a favor keep it coated with a little clear spray varnish and you will not have any trouble.

Wow great advice never thought of spry varnish. This will surely go a long way.

Thanks BCNJ

I always extend and clean it before I shorten it in. Doing that I prevent any sand or dirt coming in to the shaft connection. Never had a problem extending it.
